Who are you?
I am a senior consultant in orthopaedics andtraumatology, currently practicing at Pihlajalinna, a private clinic inHelsinki. Alongside my clinical responsibilities, I am actively pursuing a PhDas part of the FIMPACT research group. In addition to my academic and clinicalwork, I serve as the team physician for Kiekko-Espoo, a professional ice hockeyteam competing in the Finnish national league (SM-liiga).
What is your role in FICEBO?
I am one of the contributors to the FIMPACT trial.
Why did you decide to enter your field?
I chose to pursue a career in orthopaedics because Ifind it rewarding to help people and see the results of treatment relativelyquickly. I enjoy performing orthopaedic surgeries and appreciate the hands-onnature of the specialty. Working with athletes and supporting them in theirrecovery is also an interesting aspect of the field, among many others.
Who/What inspires you?
I draw inspiration from my wife, children, friends,and colleagues. Especially during difficult times, it’s motivating to see howpeople come together and support one another, united by a common purpose.
Favorite part of your job?
I find being a surgeon an intellectually stimulatingcareer where I can apply my knowledge and skills to benefit others.

This one is interesting: Surgery and physiotherapy were both successful in the treatment of small, acute, traumatic rotator cuff tears: a prospective randomized trial. J Shoulder Elbow Surg. 2020 Mar;29(3):459-470. doi: 10.1016/j.jse.2019.10.013. Epub 2020 Jan 7.
